Legacy summary:
Legacy takes place in a slightly futuristic sci-fi setting that is very similar to our own world. The planet has recently been overwhelmed and occupied by alien force and its people have drifted into despair. Yet, their hopes are lifted when a new hero displaying great powers appears. But his life is brief, sacrificing himself so that others can live. The story then shifts and focuses on a group of teenagers that the world has largely forgotten. They become the inheritors of the hero’s great abilities. The rest of the narrative examines their backgrounds, explores why the hero may have chosen them to carry on his mission, and follows their choices – some inspiring and some tragic – in the use of their new found abilities.
The story is a great metaphor for the incredible gifts and talents we have all inherited from our Creator. And a good reflection on the consequences of the everyday choices we make. The narrative parallels the biblical story as well, and encourages us to reflect daily upon the challenging question: “Are we living lives that are truly worthy of the sacrifice that has been made for us?”
